Team Hounslow Wins Honours at London Youth Games


Team Hounslow has been named third ‘Most Improved Borough’ at this year’s London Youth Games. The team, which was made up of local competitors aged 7 to 18, also took home ​​a number of trophies throughout the games.  

Held annually, the London Youth Games bring together young athletes from all 33 London boroughs. Team Hounslow topped the tables for several sporting events, including 1st place in the Boys’ Cricket, 2nd place in Boys’ Basketball and 3rd place in Indoor Rowing, with individual competitors winning a gold and two silver medals during the race. One young Hounslow competitor also took home a gold medal in the Kayak Sprints. 

The team’s successes added up, with Hounslow being named the third ‘Most Improved Borough’ during the Final’s Festival which took place at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on Sunday 30th June. Team Hounslow came​​ 20th in the overall competition, up from last year. 

Prior to the start of the competition, 188 local athletes took part in the team trials at Osterley Sports & Athletics Centre, operated by Lampton Leisure. The final team selections continued to train at the site throughout the games, with the Lampton Leisure team ensuring the young competitors were fully prepared for upcoming events.
